And if your stylist over-texturizes your hair during a cut, your mane may appear parched and frizzy. “Curly or coarse hair tends to be drier naturally,” Villanueva says. Not to mention, your hair type or cut can also make you more susceptible. “Hair tends to become more coarse and brittle as you age,” Rebecca Kazin, M.D., an associate director at the Washington Institute of Dermatologic Laser Surgery, recently told. (In case you need a reminder, regularly using hot tools as well as consistent hair processing can lead to Sahara-dry strands, confirms Ramona Villanueva, Style + Textured Hair Specialist at Boss Hair Group in Chicago.) It wasn’t the worst I’ve ever used but I will be passing it off to a friend or family member who has more use for it than I do. I usually sleep on my styled hair and still have the style in the AM. To do a follow-up I came back to see how my hair looked the next morning (8 hours later). My hair also felt puffy which is usually what happens which products that contain sulfates. It felt like the curl wouldn’t last and was just falling flat. I felt like my hair had a lot of fly-aways and it was harder to curl than it normally is. I was not impressed after blowdrying and styling. I blow-dried the rest and then curled with a flat iron as I did the day before so I could compare. I then left my hair air dry 80% of the way. When I rinsed I wasn’t tangly and I didn’t lose anymore or less hair than usual.įor more details check out my video review: It tells you to leave it in for 1 minute, but as most of you I left it in for a bit longer. I then followed up with the conditioner which is just like any other generic conditioner. It rinsed easily enough and left my hair feeling normal. It lathers up A LOT – due to the sulfates. The shampoo is a clear color and is a gel-like consistency. It has a nice clean hair product type of smell which I enjoyed. I used this in the shower the other night. For me, it dries my hair out over time and weighs it down. The Dove shampoo has sulfate as the second ingredient which if you’ve read a beauty blog in the last 2 years you would know if no good for your hair for a lot of reasons. But, for the sack of this post and the corresponding video, I tried these products and this happened… You can read up more on cruelty-free statuses on OPENLETR. The packaging of these bottles says PETA certified cruelty-free but if you know anything about the politics of cruelty-free status it isn’t that simple. They feature ALL products, including Unilever brands like Dove. This is something that makes me love Influenster a little less. Now, as many of you may know, (even though I haven’t posted here in ages – which is why it took me 24+ hours to remember my login info) I am still in the process of going cruelty-free. Hey guys! Influenster sent me a Voxbox for free in exchange for my honest review & this time it was packed with this NEW Dove hair care duo: The Dove Clarify + Hydrate Shampoo & Conditioner with Charcoal.
